Searching for the right section can be just as difficult as house hunting, especially as you are only dealing with open spaces - in some cases overgrown with bush - as opposed to a house in which you can see someone's already lived in. It's important to keep an open mind and visualise the possibilities. Treat it as a blank canvas on which anything can be formed!

Once you've found a section that you like, it's critical to engage with an architect/designer who you are comfortable with, as you will depend on them throughout the development stage of your design to guide you in the right direction. Get excited!

It’s also best to get in touch with a reputable builder at the same time, as they can help with costings and making sure what is drawn on the plan will actually match your budget and expectations.
